South Africa’s first Internet portal for fans of Tamil films will be launched tomorrow.

This follows the growing popularity of Udhayam, the recently re-launched e-zine that is sent free to subscribers via e-mail.

Although most subscribers are in South Africa, it also has subscribers in India, Canada, France, Singapore, Malaysia and the UK. Its blog page — http://udhayam. blat.co.za — has attracted comments from international visitors.

Initially, it was envisaged the website would contain only the monthly e-zine with pictures. Now it will become a comprehensive website, and the launch phase will include film news, reviews, Tamil song lyrics in English, old film re-views, basic Tamil lessons, star birthdays, trailers and links to other sites.

In the near future, the site will include the streaming of Tamil films and music. A shopping component will also be introduced to enable users to buy Tamil films and music.
